In a special sneak peek of the new season, Kim was seen meeting Gypsy Rose at what appears to be a hotel. Appearing at the door, Kardashian declared, “Hi Gypsy!” with Gypsy Rose Blanchard enthusiastically replying “Hi!”
According to Entertainment Tonight, the taped meeting between the duo wasn’t predicted, as they didn’t get a chance to meet while Gypsy Rose was in prison.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard was found guilty of second-degree murder for her involvement in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, in 2015. To free herself from her abusive mother, Gypsy Rose Blanchard plotted Dee Dee’s death with her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn. He stabbed Dee Dee multiple times.
Gypsy Rose was later deemed a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy (MSP). The condition is described as children whose caregivers fabricate histories of symptoms and illness.
“It is also considered in situations where the adult caregiver induces injury in the child, and thus is a form of child abuse,” Dr. James Schneider, Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, told PEOPLE.
For her sentencing, Gypsy Rose received 10 years and was granted parole at eight and a half years. Godejohn was found guilty of first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. His attorneys are continuously trying to appeal the ruling.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Previously Said She Wanted to Work With Kim Kardashian on Prison Reform
Following her release from prison, Gypsy Rose Blanchard spoke about her interest in working with Kim Kardashian on prison reform.
“It would be so cool,” Blanchard told Extra about wanting to work with Kardashian. “She has that huge platform for prison reform, and I have been in prison! So having those two elements, I think we could do something good in the world!”
While taking a page out of The Kardashians‘ reality TV playbook, Gypsy Rose Blanchard is preparing for her own show. Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up will be premiering on June 3.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard further explained that she was ready to share her story with the world finally. “I wasn’t ready to open up about certain things in my life [in the past], and now I am,” she explained. “And so. I’m really sharing my whole truth.”
She then added that she was in prison for eight and a half years and she believed her sentence was fair. “I take it as a learning experience. I did something wrong, and I take accountability for that.”
