Gypsy Rose Blanchard opened up about life with her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, and thanked the other mother figures in her life in a Mother’s Day video post on TikTok.
In the video, which was eight minutes and 30 seconds long, Blanchard, who had previously served nearly eight years for her part in the death of her mother, started by revealing why she decided to turn the comments off for the video.
“Today is Mother’s Day, and I wanted to make a video basically celebrating the really strong and wonderful women that I have in my life that have been mother figures to me over the last eight and a half years,” Gypsy Rose Blanchard explained. “I first one to start off by saying I did turn off the comments to this video because I don’t want to hear any negative bull—-. If you want to talk s— about me, by all means, I don’t give an F. Go do it on your own platform, but I’m not going to see it in my comments.”

Dee Dee died after being stabbed multiple times by Gypsy Rose’s then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. Gypsy Rose had conspired with Godejohn to kill Dee Dee so that she could be of her mother’s abuse.
Acknowledging that her biological mother is not alive to celebrate Mother’s Day, Blanchard decided she wanted to focus on the good times she had with Dee Dee. “I think about her as not what she did to me, but I think about her as a person … Was she a good mom? No. Was she the best mom in the world? No. But she was still my mom so what I choose to feel about her, whether that be guilt, anger, grief, resentment — whatever.”
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Says No One Can Take Away Her Feelings About Her Mother
Continuing to speak about Dee Dee, Gypsy Rose Blanchard said, “No one can take away my own feelings about my own mother, and I feel like no one should be able to have an opinion about my mother except for her family and me because we were the people closest to her.”
Gypsy Rose was a victim of Munchausen by proxy at the hands of Dee Dee for years. However, Gypsy Rose said she wants to remember her mother for the good that was in her heart. She also hopes that her mother is in heaven.
“And I hope that to some degree I make her proud of at least some of the achievements that I’ve made in my life in growing up,” she said. “And standing on my own two feet, learning through experiences.”
Gypsy Rose went on to add that while she has many regrets in her life, she will say a prayer for Dee Dee.
