Kevin Costner isn’t holding back when it comes to his divorce from his wife of 18 years, Christine Baumgartner.
During a recent interview with GQ, the Yellowstone star opened up about his 2023 split from Baumgartner. He shared that while he was going through “very serious stuff” in his personal life, he was also filming two Horizon: An American Saga films.
Despite the craziness at the time, Kevin Costner recalled finding what he thought was “a level of victory.”
“I’m not going to lose myself,” Kevin Costner shared. “I’ve taken big bites out of life, life’s taken big ones out of me, right?”
Costner then said he wasn’t going to lose himself because he was bruised. “I have been, but I’m not going to lose myself.”
Despite his struggles on and off sets, Kevin Costner said he couldn’t “let go of [the] rope” when it comes to life. “No matter how much my heart’s on the ground, no matter how broken I may be on a daily basis … I do have a level of responsibility [to those involved in these projects].”
Although he didn’t go into full detail about his divorce, Costner said “a lot has happened” in his life recently. He also
“I’m right now looking at myself in the dark and going, ‘Are you going to f–king stand up and finish? Get up,’” Kevin Costner said. He continued by stating,“‘Get up, Kevin. Get the f–k up and deal with this and find the joy every day of seeing your kids play while you’re here — and then work your ass off to get this thing finished.’”
Baumgartner filed for divorce in May 2023. The former spouses finalized the split in February 2024. They share three children, Cayden, Hayes, and Grace. All three attended the 2024 Cannes Film Festival with their father over the weekend.

Months after he and Christine Baumgartner confirmed their split, Kevin Costner has been rumored to have moved on by dating singer and songwriter Jewel.
The duo was spotted on Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the Virgin Islands in late 2023. Jewel was reportedly resting on Kevin’s lap during the beach trip. They also attended a tennis fundraiser for the Inspiring Children Foundation, which Jewel is the founder of.
Months after the rumors started circulating, Jewel spoke about Kevin Costner. “He’s a great person,” she said while noticeably blushing. She then shared her thoughts about public speculation. “The public fascination is intense for sure.”
Meanwhile, Baumgartner seemingly confirmed her relationship with Costner’s former friend, Josh Conor. The two were hanging out in Montecito, California last week, holding hands and being flirty.
