Costner attended the famous festival with children Lily, Hayes, Grace, Cayden, and Annie. He and his children appeared on the red carpet for his new film Horizon: An American Saga, which premiered during the big event.
Kevin Costner directed and starred in the two-part Western film, which takes place in the American Civil War period. Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Giovanni Ribisi, and Jamie Campbell Bower are co-starred. Kevin’s son, Hayes, also appeared in the film.
According to IMDb, the first film, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, chronicles a “multi-faceted, 15-year span of pre-and post-Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West.”
The film is set to hit theaters on June 28.
Kevin Costner’s Cannes Film Festival appearance comes just days after his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner seemingly confirmed her romance with his former friend, Josh Connor.
The couple has been romantically linked for months and was recently seen out and about in Montecito, California holding hands. Although they didn’t kiss in front of the cameras following them, they did wrap their arms around each other’s waists.
Costner and Baumgartner were married for 18 years before calling it quits last year. That actor reportedly has “strong suspicions” that something had been going on between Baumgartner and Conor. However, he didn’t know for a fact if something had happened.
The former spouses share children Cayden, Hayes, and Grace.
Kevin Costner Recently Spoke About Casting His Son Hayes in ‘Horizon: An American Saga’
Last month, Kevin Costner spoke to Entertainment Tonight at CinemaCon about casting his son Hayes in his new film Horizon: An American Saga.
Hayes will notably be making his film debut in the upcoming Western film. Speaking about Hayes being an inspiration for the new movie, Kevin stated, “I named him after the character I play in this. My character’s name is Hayes Ellison. So I was watching him grow up and I was thinking, ‘Man, I better get with it and make this movie.’”
Kevin Costner pointed out that Horizon has been in the making for more than three decades. He shared what made him bring Hayes in for the highly-anticipated film.
“I captured him and I brought him on, and he’s very good in this small part that he’s done,” Costner said. “If you see it, I think he has an impact on the movie.”
Although Hayes did not have to audition for his role, Kevin Costner stated he did not give “great parts” away. “I understand that there’s young actors out [there] that would kill for these parts,” he explained. “And so mine have to respect the profession.”
“But in certain instances, this was something I thought he could handle. I wanted him close and so I did it. So we’re locked together in a film forever. Actually, I’m not in any scenes with him, but I directed him when he was little and now he’s big.”
