Gypsy Rose Blanchard is facing some backlash after a Mother’s Day post went south, and netizens started bashing her online. People have even sent her death threats, according to Blanchard.
Speaking with TMZ, Blanchard is telling her side of the story and explaining what she intended with the Mother’s Day tribute. In the tribute, Blanchard mentioned both her late mother Dee Dee but also used the opportunity to thank her stepmother Kristy and her boyfriend Ken Urker’s mother as well.
She said that both have helped her in recent times. She said that she didn’t mean any offense to her late mother’s memory. However, people online have criticized Blanchard for the post. They’ve called her out and threatened her.

She told the outlet, “When I said that I hope my mom is proud of me, people are thinking I meant she would be proud of the murder. That is obviously not what I meant. I meant she would be proud of me in heaven, like getting my GED, moving towards independence and learning how to cook, clean, having my own bank account etc.”
Blanchard turned off the comments for the post. But this just led to people sending her direct messages. She has reported the messages as hate messages, but that’s done little so far to stop the onslaught. So she’s reaching out to share her side of the story in hopes that they’ll stop.
Blanchard said that what happened with her mother shouldn’t disqualify her from making a Mother’s Day tribute and honoring those in her life. She said, “Because of what happened with my mom, that shouldn’t make me exempt from wishing the other women in my life a HMD … I didn’t say this because of my balls and audacity, I did this message because I have women in my life that are supportive.”
As for how Blanchard spent the holiday, she mostly stayed indoors. She said that she spent time with her stepmother. They both watched romantic films and relaxed. She also cooked fo her as well.
However, Dee Dee weighed on Gypsy’s mind. She said, “I remember the good she had in her and the good times. I don’t think about the abuse or murder. I miss her and have a lot of guilt and regret.”
