As we previously reported, the sudsy tale of the 39-year-old chronic oversharer began Saturday, Feb. 8th. Teigan shared an Instagram carousel capturing heartwarming moments with her four children — Wren Alexander (18 months), Esti Maxine (2), Miles Theodore (6), and Luna Simone (8) — all of whom she shares with her husband, John Legend.
Of course, the first photo in the series drew the most attention, featuring a nude Teigen in a bathtub with her three youngest children. Her 6-year-old son sits partially behind her, his hand draped across her arm.
Almost as if by design, Teigen’s over 42 million Instagram followers rushed to the comments to weigh in on when the cut-off point is for mommy bathing hijinks.
“Isn’t her son a little old to be taking a bath with his naked mom?? Very strange,” one onlooker wrote. “They are way to old to be in the bath with you,” another Instagram denizen insisted.
Others simply felt a picture like this shouldn’t be for public consumption.
“The bath pic is weird and unnecessary,” one Teigen critic wrote. “Why do people post stuff like this on social media???” a second onlooker opined.
However, many folks found the candid shot life-affirming.
“She’s a freeing spirit, She’s always been that way,” one supporter declared. “Y’all are too judgemental. Those kids aren’t too old to see their Mom’s natural body. Our sinful thoughts make it unnatural,” they added.
While Teigen brushed past the dozens upon dozens of comments like the ones above, she was quick to defend the quality of the milky water she and her children were stewing in.
“Why is she always in dirty bathwater?” one person wondered, to which Teigen shot back, replying, “It’s a coconut milk bath for sensitive skin but go off!”
Chrissy Teigen Claps Back at Folks Saying She Clapped Back
As the debate over Chrissy Teigen posting a picture of herself bathing with her children raged on, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model decided to enter the fray.
Late Sunday night, she took issue with outlets calling her defense of her bath water as a “clap back.”
“Saying ‘it’s a coconut milk bath’ is not a clap back,” Teigen wrote on her Instagram Story alongside a post from Page Six. “Don’t insult my clap back with this hippie s**t,” she added.
Indeed, maybe simply explaining she and her children were soaking in coconut water isn’t really much of a clap back (which traditionally means a quick barb to an insult). While it might seem like a decadent move, coconut water is reportedly good for sensitive skin.
Meanwhile, the world waits with bated breath for Teigen to actually clap back about bathing with her kids.
