According to CBS News, the Beautiful Girls hitmaker was slammed with allegations of stealing money, jewelry, a Cadillac Escalade SUV, and furniture.
Sean Kingston was hit with 10 criminal charges during his bond hearing. Among the charges include grand theft, fraud, criminal use of personal identification, and violation of probation for trafficking stolen property.
The rapper’s legal team stated that since a Florida judge already set a bond on the violation of probation charge, he should be eligible for release.
Bob Rosenblatt, who is representing Sean Kingston, stated that the signer signed a waiver, but he did so under coercion.
Rosenblatt also said that Kingston did not commit any crimes. “Well, I don’t know who is claiming they owe money. You know, we were aware of the watches, we are aware of the TV issue. If there are other issues I’m not sure about… It’s a breach of contract. There’s no fraud here. There’s no organized fraud at all.”
Rosenblatt is planning to file a not-guilty plea and is requesting a jury trial. He told reporters that he is “very confident” that the charges will get dismissed.
Kingston is reportedly expected to be released soon.
Kingston was arrested following a raid at his Florida home. His mother Janice Turner was arrested during the raid. Both Sean and Janice were charged with conducting an “organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, identity theft, and related crimes.
The arrest warrants were done through the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Kingston was arrested in Southern California and was extradited to Florida.
