The mother of Sean Kingston was taken into police custody during a raid at the rapper’s rented Florida mansion on Thursday, May 23.
According to NBC South Florida, the Broward County Sherriff’s Office and Davie Police SWAT deputies presented a search warrant at the property at Southwest Ranches, which is around 30 miles northwest of Miami.
Authorities revealed to the media outlet that 61-year-old Janice Turner, who was identified as Kingston’s mother, was arrested on charges of theft and fraud.
Sean Kingston took to Instagram to speak out about the situation. “People love negative energy!” Kingston wrote in his Instagram Story. “I am good and so is my mother!”

Kingston also pointed out that his attorneys are handling the situation. The singer first became popular with his 2007 single Beautiful Girls. He also collaborated with Justin Bieber and Soulja Boy in the past.
Meanwhile, an attorney, Dennis Card, revealed the raid was connected to a lawsuit filed against Sean Kingston. The rapper allegedly did not pay for some purchased items. Among those items include a 232-inch TV, which Kingston was seen posing in front of in a recent picture.
“He likes having bling, he likes showing off, he’s a showman,” Card pointed out. “My client has a $150,000 television sound system that’s in there, there’s also about $1 million worth of watches that are in there, there’s a $80,000 custom bed that was ordered. This is an organized systematic fraud.”
Florida Attorney Slams Sean Kingston For Not Being Honest About His Wealth
Attorney Dennis Card slammed Sean Kingston for not being honest about his fame and fortune.
“He’s got basically a script, he says that he works with Justin Bieber and that he obviously puts on a big show here,” Card said. “This is a rental house, he doesn’t own it, and he lures people using his celebrity into having them release things without him paying for it and then he simply never pays.”
Card further accused Sean Kingston of being “100 percent a scammer.”
“He’s on felony probation right now for trafficking in stolen property,” Card disclosed. “He’s got judgments against him for procuring more than $1 million in watches without paying for them. This is just an ongoing pattern for Sean.”
Card then turns his attention to Kingston’s mother, stating she is complicit in the rapper’s lies. “She knows what’s going on.”
Kingston’s mother previously pled guilty in January 2006 to four counts of filing false loan applications. She also pled guilty to one count of bank fraud. This was involving $132,000 in stolen funds she was ordered to repay. She served 16 months in prison and five years of supervised release.
Law enforcement has not revealed if Sean Kingston is facing any charges. He was reportedly not at the mansion during the raid.
