Giving fans a reason for hope, *NSYNC bandmate Chris Kirkpatrick declares reunion talks are “definitely underway.”
While chatting with TMZ this week, Kirkpatrick stated he’s had lengthy discussions with his bandmates Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, and Joey Fatone, about potentially reuniting. However, it’s a matter of everyone’s schedules lining up.
However, although they are going back and forth regarding a reunion, the *NSYNC crew is not planning a stage comeback. Kirkpatrick said the reunion would be “all fun and games because when all five [bandmates] are in the same room, it feels like no time has passed.”
*NSYNC was active from 1995 to 2002, with the height of the all-boy band’s fame being in the late 90s.
The bandmates have been fueling reunion rumors over the past year. All five appeared together for the first time in more than 10 years at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards in August 2023. The bandmates then collaborated on the single Better Place. The song was featured in Timberlake’s animated film Trolls Band Together.
Kirkpatrick, Chasez, Bass, and Fatone also appeared on stage at one of Timberlake’s tour shows earlier this year.
Could Justin Timberlake’s Current Solo Career Woes Be Helping *NSYNC Reunion Efforts?
Chris Kirkpatrick’s remarks about a potential *NSYNC reunion come just after rumors started circulating about Justin Timberlake’s solo career struggles.
Earlier this month, sources shared that Timberlake’s solo career may be greatly impacted by Britney Spears’ 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me. Spears shares details about her famous relationship with Timberlake in the book, including her side of the cheating speculations. She also revealed Timberlake pushed her to have an abortion.
Timberlake seemingly brushed off the situation and even declared he didn’t owe anyone any apologies. However, it appears the impact was bigger than he expected.
Along with the controversy with Spears, sources pointed out that Timberlake waited a bit too long to release his latest album, Everything I Thought It Was.
“A six-year break from your mid-thirties to your early forties is a really long time [for an artist],” music journalist Touré of TheGrio told NewsNation. “Most of [Timberlake’s] fans have aged out of caring about him. It’s like the old saying goes, ‘You don’t retire – the audience retires you.’”
Everything I Thought It Was made its debut in March at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100. It fell off the Hot Billboard 200 just one month later.
Timberlake is also failing to sell tickets to his shows. He recently canceled his June 8th performance in Columbia, South Carolina. He didn’t reveal the reason why.
