After her 2022 Coachella debut, the 28-year-old rapper headlined the festival for the first time on April 14th. She’s only the second Black woman artist to do so (Beyoncé headlined in 2018).
She ended Coachella’s first weekend with a bang, performing hits like “Tia Tamera” and “Paint the Town Red,” featuring 21 Savage, Teezo Touchdown, and A$AP Rocky. She also impressed with six outfit changes in her hour-long show. That’s an outfit every ten minutes, folks!
Doja Cat kicked off her Coachella fashion spectacle by making an entrance on stage clad in a white hazmat suit, paired with sneakers, and sporting a platinum blonde wig that cascaded down to her buttocks.
She then channeled her inner Cousin It, donning a nude fishnet bodysuit and stepping into boots that could’ve been mistaken for her hair’s long-lost twins, creating a hair-raising spectacle.
Most of Doja Cat’s Coachella Performance Featured Her Bleached Buzz Cut
During the second act of her performance, Doja Cat boldly removed her wig, swiftly transitioning backstage aided by GhostBond’s Glow Up glue. This durable adhesive ensures the wig remains firmly in place, yet allows for smooth removal without leaving any residue behind.
Throughout the remainder of the show, Doja Cat showcased her bleached buzz cut, allowing it to complement the next series of outfits. These included two translucent galactic spacesuits in white and gold, a floss bikini and a high-cut bodysuit accentuated with three-dimensional boning, letting her wardrobe speak volumes.
She complemented her closely shaved haircut with a chic, fluffy cropped vest and a thong, accessorized with oversized sunglasses and an elegant, large teddy bear coat.
Meanwhile, her final song gave a new meaning to dirty dancing. Doja Cat and her backup dancers put on a muddy display of grinding debauchery that floored the Coachella crowd.
Upon seeing footage of Doja Cat’s electric performance and carousel of costumes, fans flooded social media singing her praise.
“She coming for the Beyoncé’s throne,” one fan gushed on X. “Shes definitely the queen of rap/best female rap artist performer,” another fan agreed. “THEE baddest, hottest in the game,” a third fan wrote upon seeing her blonde hair bikini outfit.
Indeed, with Beyoncé currently involved in Country Music, perhaps it’s time for a fresh face to come for her crown.
