Aaron Hernandez’s ex-fiancée is speaking out after the late NFL tight-end became the butt of jokes during Tom Brady‘s Roast Special. The special aired on Netflix and featured jokes at Hernandez’s expense
For instance, Brady said during his monologue, “The bar for a Patriots tight end was pretty low back then. Block. Catch. Don’t murder.” Brady is referring to Hernandez’s murder trial.
Authorities arrested Hernandez for the murder of Odin Lloyd in 2013. The courts later found him guilty and gave him a life sentence without parole for first-degree murder. This marked the fall for Hernandez but also the start of a dark period for his family as well. Prosecutors also brought charges against Hernandez for the double murder of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado.
However, courts acquitted Hernandez on the murders of these two. Days after his acquittal, guards would find Hernandez dead in his cell. Ultimately, medical examiners determined that Hernandez committed suicide.
Speaking with TMZ, Shayanna Jenkins called out Brady and the comedians in the special. Jenkins had a daughter with Hernandez. She said that it was distressing to see her late partner be made fun of. She wished that the special thought about the tragedy around the case before making jokes.

Jenkins said, “It’s sad that I’m trying to raise my children in such a cruel world.” She continued saying that Hernandez’s daughter is still alive, even if the NFL player is gone. She said that jokes like that could affect her daughter.
Now 11 years old, Hernandez’s ex believes that their daughter will see Brady’s roast and be affected by it. She said that their daughter viewed Brady as a hero, which made his comments even more distressing.
Ultimately, Jenkins believes that the tragedy around the case shouldn’t be used for material for jokes. It’s all too sensitive and life altering. After his death, doctors diagnosed Hernandez with chronic traumatic encephalopathy, believing it affected him mentally.
Brady and Hernandez reportedly wasn’t on good terms, according to wide receiver Brandon Lloyd. Lloyd said that Brady became frustrated with Hernandez’s odd behavior and called him out once.
“He was out at the walk-through in flip-flops trying to run around,” Lloyd said. “He was laughing —he was loud. And Tom keeps it serious in the walk-through. And Tom says, ‘Shut the f*** up. Get the f*** out of here.”‘
