Eli Manning has a solid but hilarious excuse for not attending Netflix’s The Roast of Tom Brady this past weekend.
The fellow former NFL quarterback took to X (formerly Twitter) to speak out about his seemingly noticeable absence from the event. “I thought about attending the Roast of Tom Brady last night,” Manning stated. “But I did not want to Roast him for a 3rd time!!”
Eli Manning was referencing him beating Tom Brady in Super Bowl XLII and XLVI. X users quickly responded to the post by praising Manning.
“This wins the internet today,” one user wrote. Another repeatedly declared, “Think fast, Roast fast.”
Manning’s excuse comes just after Will Ferrell reprised his role as Ron Burgundy to roast Tom Brady with multiple Manning jabs.
“Underneath that dead robot of a quarterback, there’s a scared little boy,” Burgundy declared. “Anyone notice? You don’t see Eli Manning here tonight, do you? No. That’s because he’s afraid of Eli Manning. Eli Manning made Tom Brady his b–. He made him his b–!”
Burgundy wasn’t quite done yet. “Eli. Manning. Made. Tom Brady. His. B—,” he then shouted. He also encouraged the audience to chant along. “One, two, three….Eli. Manning. Made. Tom. Brady. His. B—.”
With his final thought, Burgundy said to Brady, “You won’t be forgotten. You’ll always be remembered as Eli Manning’s b–.”
Following Burgundy’s hilarious remarks, Tom Brady took to the stage to deliver a special shout-out for Eli Manning and New York Giants fans.
“And Giants fans,” he stated. “F— you and f— Eli twice!”
Eli Manning’s Brother Peyton Roasted Tom Brady During the Special
Although Eli Manning did not make it to the roast event, his brother Peyton took to the stage to acknowledge his Super Bowl record with Brady.
“My [golf] handicap is a 6.4,” Peyton said. “Tom’s handicap is blowing leads to my brother Eli in the Super Bowl.”
Eli Manning’s brother also referred to Tom Brady as a “three-time Super Bowl loser,” Brady had some thoughts for the former Indianapolis Colts quarterback.
“Peyton, sometimes you live in Denver, sometimes you live in Louisiana, but you’ll always live in my shadow,” Brady roasted.
Along with calling out Brady, Peyton Manning also shared that former New England Patriots coach, Bill Belichick, will be appearing on the ManningCast.
“For those who don’t know, Coach is gonna be doing some work on Eli and my Monday Night Football show this year,” Peyton said. “I gotta tell you, it’s gonna be awesome. Eli and I are super excited. And it’s gonna give Coach Belichick something he hasn’t had in a while. The chance to be around quarterbacks that he respects.”
