Kelce ended up moving Tucker’s helmet and football during pre-game warmups. Online users accused Kelce of being a bully. However, Kelce took to his podcast New Heights to explain his side of things.
Kelce explains that there’s an “unwritten rule” that “you don’t interfere with what they have going on.” Kelce explained that Tucker put his helmet in the way of his QB Patrick Mahomes, and Kelce was rectifying the mistake.
He said, “If you wanna be a f—ing dick about it, you keep your helmet, and your football and your f—ing kicking tee right where the quarterbacks are warming up. … Don’t paint me as the bad guy. He was poking the bear.”
He continued, “If you’re not going to pick that up, I’ll happily move that for you.” Kelce ended up taking Tucker’s helmet and tossing it to the side. After the incident went viral, Kelce admitted it looked like bad form.
Travis Kelce Shares His Point of View
The NFL player apologized for his actions. “I get it,” Kelce said. “He was kind of winking at me and being a [jerk] about it, trying to get under the skin.” But he and Mahomes were laser-focused on the game to come, and not “in a joking mood.”
However, he also stands by his actions, saying, “f you’re gonna be a d— I promise you, I can one-up you every time.” However, Kelce did praise Tucker for his skills so he isn’t holding any grudges.
Kelce is dealing with an increased exposure thanks to his relationship with Swift. The NFL player admitted that being in the spotlight has its drawbacks. He had to try to refocus himself on football and try to not get distracted.
He said (via New York Post), “I had to kind of reel it back because everybody in this building knows my intentions, man, football is my main focus right now. There’s a lot of people counting on me in this building, in this city, in this organization, so this is my number one focus at the time to be able to, and on top of that, it’s in my heart to be able to pour everything I’ve got out there on the field.”
So far, he appears to have figured it out as the Kansa City Chiefs are heading to the Super Bowl.
