Speaking with TMZ, Brady said that some jokes landed under the belt. In particular, he wasn’t a fan of how some of the jokes hit his children.”I didn’t like the way they affected my kids,” he said of the jokes.
While Brady didn’t mention which jokes in particular, it’s likely he’s referring to the ones about his divorce. Brady and Gisele Bündchen had a pretty messy, pretty public divorce. It’s probably a fresh wound for the family, especially their children.
It was also open season for the various comedians on the show. Everyone from Kevin Hart to Jeff Ross had their own material about Brady’s divorce. For instance, Hart said, “You have seven rings. Well, eight now that Gisele gave hers back.”
Tom Brady Had His Fun
Well, Brady said he had fun with the special, but you won’t see him doing something like this again. He didn’t realize it would affect those closest to him in a negative way.
“It’s the hardest part about — like the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way and then all the sudden you realize I wouldn’t do that again because of the way that it affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world,” he said.
However, he also supported the roast. He said, “If we’re not laughing about things, we’re crying. We should have more fun.”
Meanwhile, Brady’s ex Bündchen didn’t like the way that she landed in the roast. Sources say that she is “deeply disappointed by the disrespectful portrayal of her family on Sunday evening’s roast show.”
The source added, “As always, [Bündchen’s] priority is to support her children who were affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcasted.”
Meanwhile, the insider also said, “This past week, Gisele has been tirelessly dedicated to aiding those in need in her home state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Which is grappling with the worst flooding in its history. She was concerned about family affected by the devastating floods. So to hear her life being joked about was very disappointing.”
