Pop superstar Taylor Swift is still breaking major records. Her album The Tortured Poets Department, which was released on April 19, is on track to sell over two million units in the first week. This comes after her Eras Tour became the highest-grossing tour of all time last year.
Taylor is truly on a generational run in the music industry. But before she was a superstar in the music industry, she was just a girl. CBS Philadelphia caught up with her elementary school teachers to get an inside look at what Taylor was like as a child.
Taylor Swift’s Teachers Recall Childhood Personality
“She always was writing poetry — always — even in music class, even when she shouldn’t,” Taylor’s teacher Barbara Kolvek said.
Kolvek also noted that she gave Taylor “her very first singing solo.”
“I feel like maybe I gave her a little spark or encouragement to do what she was doing,” she added.
Swift Had ‘Special Quality’
But it appears that even as she was just a child, it was clear that Swift had a gift. And she was always destined to blossom into the superstar that she is today.
Swift’s third-grade teacher Heather Brown says that the Grammy-Winner always had a “special quality.”
“You always remember every student for the quality they have. Taylor’s quality was just being she was one of those students where people just drew to,” Brown said of Swift.
“When she comes out on stage and everyone’s screaming ‘Taylor,’ it’s like, oh my gosh, like I was her teacher.”
Brown also told the news outlet that she still tries to keep in contact with Taylor. She sends her Christmas cards every year. But she also is aware that she probably doesn’t receive them.
Travis Kelce Heard New Album Early
Taylor’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department, is already making waves. Her album is on pace to do historic numbers yet again. And while the world is still buzzing about the release, some of the more special people in her life got to hear the new project early.
One of those people was her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
“Before the release of Taylor Swift’s record-breaking new album, The Tortured Poets Department, the Grammy winner’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, scored an early listen to her new music,” PEOPLE wrote.
“Multiple sources close to the NFL star, 34, tell PEOPLE that Kelce listened to tracks from the highly-anticipated album ahead of its April 19 release.”He is always in awe of her,” one source says of Kelce’s reaction to his girlfriend’s new album.”
