When asked about the company’s ability to generate a 3D image based on her portrait, the 26-year-old actress grimaced at the uncanny creation. However, she regained her composure and forced a brave smile.
The AI-generated image of Sweeney looked a bit like a still from a Barbie CGI cartoon circa 2008. Still, Sydney stayed on the script with a polite response.
“Awww, I love it,” the Immaculate star managed to utter from the audience. “It’s amazing you can take an image like this,” she awkwardly added.
The Internet Reacts to Sydney Sweeney’s Apparent Cringe to Her AI Image
Of course, the footage found its way to X (formerly Twitter). Fans instantly noticed Sydney Sweeney’s obvious dissatisfaction over the AI image.
“Look at her face bro she hates it…”, one X user noted alongside a screenshot of Sydney’s grimace. “Sydney blink twice, we need to get you out of there,” another fan quipped. “I know Schadenfreude but, what is the word for when you see someone so uncomfortable that makes you uncomfortable?”, a third X user chimed in.
“She looks absolutely terrified,” another X user thought. “It looks like she wants to run out of there.”
Other X users couldn’t help but notice the overall awkwardness of Sweeney wanting to cash a check from Samsung while being presented an image of herself she clearly hated.
“Yeah. She was (probably) paid to be there so she had to kiss the ring, but the face doesn’t lie,” X one user wrote. Another added, “nah she loves the money.”
Yet another fan seems to believe AI will replace actors altogether in the near future. “She knows days of the movie “stars” are over soon,” they declared.
Meanwhile, this event marks Sweeney’s second appearance at Samsung Unpacked as a celebrity partner. Alongside Sweeney’s cameo on the livestream, the K-Pop group Tomorrow x Together also featured in pre-recorded segments.
