A source close to the royals revealed to Page Six how the Prince of Wales is handling things amid his wife’s cancer treatments.
“William is doing his best,” the source shared. “One minute he’s doing the school run and now he is under incredible stress. He is a heartbeat away from the throne and he has his beastly brother and all of this publicity floating around.”
The source also stated that Prince William is trying to avoid the press as much as possible. This is due to his family’s unfortunate media history.
“He’s always hated the press because of what happened to his mother,” the source continued. “And [he] has made it no secret.”
Sources also reported that top staffers were unaware of the Princess’ diagnosis. This is due to Prince William wanting to protect Kate Middleton’s privacy.
Kate Middleton announced on Friday that she was diagnosed with cancer following her abdominal surgery in mid-January. She has since started preventative chemotherapy and has asked for “privacy” for her family.
“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too,” Kate Middleton stated about the Prince. “We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment.”
Prince William ‘Hit Hard’ by Accusations After Kate Middleton’s Mother’s Day Photo Situation
Meanwhile, another royal insider told Page Six that accusations following Kate Middleton’s recent Mother’s Day photo blunder “hit” Prince William “hard.”
“For everybody that was speculating, shame on them,” the insider declared. “No one stopped to think that William was more concerned with looking after his wife and children.”
One specific person whom Kensington Palace is “especially furious” with is late-night talk show host, Stephen Colbert. The comedian has notably been making jokes about Prince William’s alleged affair with neighbor, Rose Hansbury.
“He owes them a massive apology,” the insider stated. “It’s appalling.”
The news of Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis comes nearly two months after Kensington Palace announced that Prince Williams’ father King Charles III was also diagnosed with cancer. Details about his and Middleton’s cancers (i.e. types) have not been disclosed to the public at this time.
The Prince and Princess of Wales continue to remain protective of their children now. “It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them. And to reassure them that I am going to be ok,” Kate Middleton explained.
“As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body, and spirits.”
