Months after affair speculation started circulating, Prince William’s alleged “mistress” Rose Hanbury met with Queen Camilla over the weekend.
The duo were spotted attending the final day of the Badminton Horse Trails at Badminton House in Badminton, Gloucestershire on Sunday, May 12. Famed makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury was also with the Queen and Hanbury at the event.
According to Us Weekly, Rose Hanbury has kept a low profile since rumors circulated about her alleged affair with Prince William. The gossip started while the public was speculating about where Kate Middleton was. This was after she stopped making public appearances at the end of Dec. 2023.
Kate Middleton later revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer following her abdominal surgery in Jan. 2024. She shared that she had started preventative treatment, but she didn’t say what type of cancer she was diagnosed with.
Rose Hanbury used to be part of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s close circle of friends. She and her husband, David Rocksavage, the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, are also neighbors of the royal couple.
Her son Lord Oliver Cholmondeley recently served as a page boy at King Charles III’s coronation.
However, in the late 2010s, it was alleged that William and Kate had severed ties with Hanbury. This apparently was due to affair rumors circulating at that time as well.
Hanbury released a statement through her legal team that the Prince William affair rumors are “completely false.”
Rose Hanbury Recently Sent Legal Notice to Stephen Colbert Over Prince William Affair Joke
Rose Hanbury resurfacing for the Badminton Horse Trails last weekend comes nearly two months after her lawyers sent late-night talk show host, Stephen Colbert, a legal notice after he made a joke about her alleged affair with Prince William.
Hanbury’s lawyers released a statement about the situation to InTouch. “The rumor appears to have entered into the mainstream media recently as a result of another joke made about it on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
“We have written on our client’s behalf to CBS and various other reputable media organizations to confirm that the allegation is false.”
During his March 12 episode, Colbert made the joke while discussing Kate Middleton’s disappearance. “The king has been all a flutter by the seeming disappearance of Kate Middleton,” Colbert explained.
“Well now, internet sleuths are guessing that Kate’s absence may be related to her husband and the Future of England William having an affair.”
Colbert then said that he thinks everyone knows who the alleged “other woman” was. “Say it with me – the Marchioness of Cholmondeley – what a beautiful name!”
While continuing to make fun of Rose Hanbury’s title, Colbert stated the affair rumors between her and Prince William have been circulating since 2019.
