While Prince William and Queen Camilla have developed a special bond over the years, Prince Harry reportedly is distrustful of the relationship between his brother and stepmother.
Royal author, Tom Quinn, stated Prince William and Queen Camilla have seemingly bonded as both their significant others battle cancer. Although this is great for their relationship, Prince Harry is allegedly not happy about it.
“[Prince Harry] really distrusts that William actually gets on rather well with Camilla,” Quinn told the Mirror. Harry will see this as a betrayal.”
Quinn further alleged that Prince Harry was shocked when his brother realized that their stepmother was “far from the monster” they thought she was before.
“She is exceptionally good at listening with a sympathetic ear,” Quinn said about Camilla. “And William has definitely warmed to that. Harry on the other hand sees this as one more example of William letting the side down – for Harry, things have never moved really since his mother died.”
Quinn then stated Harry still believes Camilla to be the wicked stepmother. “It’s all very sad,” Quinn continued. “But shows that the huge geographical divide between the brothers – Harry in America, William in London – has become a physical manifestation of their emotional separation.”
King Charles infamously admitted to having an affair with Camilla while being married to Harry and William’s mother, Diana. Nearly a year after her divorce from Charles was officially finalized, Diana tragically passed away in a car crash while in Paris.
Less than a decade later, Charles and Camilla got married.
Prince Harry Revealed He and Prince William Tried to Convince Their Father to Not Marry Camilla
In his memoir Spare, Prince Harry revealed that he and Prince William confronted their father about marrying Camilla.
“Despite Willy and me urging him not to, Pa was going ahead,” Harry wrote about his father’s marriage to Camilla, per Time. “We pumped his hand, wished him well. No hard feelings. We recognized that he was finally going to be with the woman he loved, the woman he’d always loved.”
However, Prince Harry also wrote about how difficult it was to adjust to Charles’ new marriage. He wrote about wondering if Camilla would be cruel to him like the “wicked stepmothers” in fairy tales.
The relationship between Prince Harry and Camilla wasn’t exactly the greatest leading up to the wedding. The royal revealed that she and his father threw him “right under the bus” by leaking details about his drug use to the press in 2002.
Harry pointed out that the couple has repeatedly leaked information to the media over the years. He claimed his brother was “seething” because Charles and Camilla’s people had “planted a story or stories” about him. They also leaked stories about Kate Middleton and their children. These incidents occurred in 2019.
