Kate Middleton and Prince William’s three children joined in celebrating their grandfather King Charles’ official birthday at Trooping the Colour on June 15. The royal siblings participated in a procession through London in a horse-drawn carriage. They later appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the grand finale of a Royal Air Force flypast.
In a video shared on X, six-year-old Prince Louis is seen turning around to chat with his father, Prince William, who stood behind him. His older brother, ten-year-old Prince George, gently reminded him to “Turn around,” motioning for Louis to face forward. Louis promptly complied!
During the Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Saturday, Princess Charlotte, 9, guided Prince Louis in adhering to royal protocol. She was seen instructing her younger brother on how to hold his arms properly as the national anthem played.
Prince George Wasn’t the Only Royal Correcting Prince Louis
However, Prince George wasn’t alone in keeping Louis in line. Princess Charlotte was also seen instructing Prince Louis to “stop” as he danced to the band’s music at Horse Guards Parade.
During the presentation at Horse Guards’ Parade, the youngest child of Prince William and Princess Kate was seen playing with a curtain cord. Another clip shared on social media captured the child yawning on the balcony during the ceremony.
Trooping the Colour is a venerable British tradition, showcasing an annual parade by the British Army in celebration of the monarch’s official birthday.
Kate’s presence at Trooping the Colour was particularly significant as it marked her first public appearance since she announced in March that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy.
Just the day before the ceremony, Middleton gave an update on her ongoing treatments.
“I am making good progress,” Middleton wrote on X. “But as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”
Amid his own cancer diagnosis and treatment, King Charles attended Trooping the Colour with a notable change. At 75, the monarch, who previously rode on horseback during the procession, chose a horse-drawn carriage alongside Queen Camilla. Recently, the King has resumed a fuller schedule of royal duties, including public appearances.
