The Alleged Voyeur Wasn’t the Only Person Circling Taylor Swift Who Was Displaced
In anticipation of Swift’s arrival in Scotland, local officials went to great lengths to ensure a comfortable stay for Taylor and her fans. According to the BBC, this even went so far as shaking off homeless individuals.
Last month, Shelter Scotland, a charity dedicated to housing support, warned there was trouble. They reported that numerous individuals had been transported by taxi to Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Newcastle to make temporary accommodations available.
“Our frontline services are already seeing people in need of a bed tonight being told their only option is to leave of the city,” Alison Watson, Shelter Scotland’s director said at the time.
“A family going through the trauma of homelessness in Edinburgh should not have to move miles from their job, school, and community to find emergency accommodation,” she added.
The Edinburgh City Council initially denied relocating already established homeless individuals. Nevertheless, Housing Convenor Councillor Jane Meagher acknowledged her awareness of the issue. “We’re aware of the situation and are working with the affected households to find appropriate, alternative accommodation,” Meagher admitted.
