Kim Kardashian was introduced to the world as a reality star. But she has blossomed into one of the most successful business moguls.

She has had several successful business ventures, but perhaps the most popular is her shapewear brand, SKIMS. It is one of the NBA’s official sponsors and boasts several celeb brand ambassadors. Usher and Oklahoma City Thunder star, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, are just two of the high-profile ambassadors for the brand.
Kardashian has now found herself in hot water for one of her recent SKIMS designs. British designer Camille Charriere is claiming that the brand ripped off her floral t-shirt designs that are part of their new collection.
Kim k/skims has ripped off the one project that i put my heart & soul into, waved my fee for, and put out in a bid to plateform one of the few brands who isn’t greenwashing. Kim Kardashian in Hot Water Over New SKIMS Design
“Surprisingly, six months — which is exactly the lead time that it would take them to turn it around after we did this T-shirt — they came up with the exact same one,” Charriere said to the New York Times on May 8.
“I’m not saying we invented that T-shirt, but I do know how collections get built. I work in fashion. I know how mood boarding works. Know how trends work.”
Charriere Sends Strong Message on Kardashian’s Design
Charriere also wanted to clarify that she is not taking credit as the originator of the floral baby tee. But she notes that she put a personalized spin on it to create a “better alternative,” which is why she takes issue with the SKIMS design.
“I’m by no means claiming that I’ve invented the floral baby tee,” Charrière added about the design.
“Like, there’s no part of me that thinks that we did that. But the whole point of this collection — and it’s what I was trying to get out in this tweet — is that we wanted to offer a better alternative to what is arguably just landfill.”
Charriere brought the design to attention on a social media post on X, formerly known as Twitter. And admits she was taken aback by all of the negative attention that she received.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had something that has made people so riled up,” she said. “Literally, like, hordes of people retweeting it yesterday and insulting me. I think it’s just so interesting. It’s just interesting… because people totally missed the point of my tweet.”
