A recent video of Jennifer Lopez being “mean” to a reporter at the Met Gala went viral on TikTok.

In the video, Anika Reed, a USA Today reporter, asked JLo, “Who are you wearing tonight?” as she was making her way up the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s grand staircase.
JLo barely glanced in Reed’s direction before stating — in a monotone voice — “Schiaparelli” and walking away.
Many people felt JLo was being “mean” in the video. However, a source close to Lopez came to her defense.
“It was absolutely never Jennifer’s intention to be curt – she was attempting to climb the flight of stairs in a very restrictive dress and was being shouted at by more than 20 journalists on both sides of the carpet,” the source told Page Six.
“She was trying to do her best to answer questions and the question was ‘who are you wearing?’ and she answered the question directly — with the name of the designer”.
Jennifer Lopez’s Reputation For Being ‘Mean’
Countless individuals commented about JLo’s “meanness” on the TikTok video above.
“The way she said. Like Schiaparelli… you peasant,” someone commented on the TikTok video. Another person responded with, “She is famous for treating people like peasants.”
This certainly isn’t the first time J.Lo has been called out for her “rudeness.” Recently, countless fans and former staff members have stepped forward and shared their own stories about their encounters with her on TikTok. In fact, in March, it became a trend to share disappointing JLo horror stories on the app.
One user specifically talked about how her parents worked at a Los Vegas casino years ago. At the time, JLo was with her Ben Affleck (before their first breakup).
“Apparently, Ben was super nice, super gracious. My mom said he couldn’t have been more kind. And he left a good tip … a couple hundred dollars.”
“JLo heard about it, and she came back and took back all of it except for maybe $10-$15.”
Another user recalled the time she met JLo, whom she adored, back in 2009. The fan brought her own Selena DVD for the actress to sign.
“I go up to her, I was smiling, all red, she could tell I was nervous,” the TikToker said. “She barely even looked at me, said nothing, grabbed the DVD, signed it, put her arm around me like she was not really trying to touch me, touch me,” she said. “And that was it. She literally said nothing to me.”
She then mentioned that JLo treated the rest of her fans that way as well. However, “when the DJs came out, who were mostly males and obviously in charge of playing her music, it was like she came alive.
“She was happy, bubbly talkative, like a totally different person,” she said.
