Jennifer Aniston never bought her own private island, but exactly one year ago, a blog wrongly reported she planned to do so. Gossip Cop corrected the story when it was first published. Time has proven our debunking to be correct.

On December 7, 2018, Gossip Cop busted RadarOnline for falsely claiming Aniston was spending millions on a luxury coastal island which she’d used to take friends on private getaways. An anyomous source told the website that the actress was “bored” of staying at resorts and would rather just have her own island instead. “She’s looking at options off the coast of Hawaii and even as far afield as the south Pacific,” said the unknown insider.
The outlet’s article was based on the word of an unidentified tipster, but Gossip Cop reached out to Aniston’s rep, who told us it was entirely fabricated. The actress’s rep, who’s qualified to speak on her behalf, told us this time last year that she had no intention of purchasing a private island. 365 days later, it’s clear she did no such thing.
Around a month after we busted the report, Aniston went on a getaway to Jackson Hole, Wyoming with famous friends including Jimmy Kimmel and Jason Bateman. As opposed to bringing pals to her imaginary private island, the actress went on a ski trip.
Shortly after her 50th birthday party in February, Aniston vacationed with Courteney Cox in Cabo, where they very likely stayed at a resort. Aniston and Cox returned to Cabo in June to celebrate Cox’s 50th birthday. Mexico remains Aniston’s favorite vacation destination, and she hasn’t purchased any real estate “off the coast of Hawaii” or in the “south Pacific.”
Despite the RadarOnline’s story never coming to fruition, the blog continued trying to trick readers into believing it has exclusive scoops about the actress. This past June, Gossip Cop busted the site for wrongly reporting that Aniston was writing a memoir. That bogus claim, which had emerged several times in the past, also came from an anonymous source. Aniston’s rep told us, “Jen has never wanted to write a memoir, and we have continuously made that clear every time gossip magazines have fabricated this story.”
Gossip Cop looks back at stories from a year ago to show how the tabloids can’t be trusted when it comes to getting accurate news about celebrities. Aniston doesn’t have her own private island and was never in the market for one.
