The show opened with an announcer introducing the “stars of [the] show, Jared Leto and Vanna White,” who walked in together arm-in-arm.
Leto then launched the show with a small speech to set the stage for the show. “All right everybody, grab those devices, it’s time to give away some money,” he said. “A $1000 in our first toss-up, the category is on the map.”
After his short appearance, Leto passed along hosting duties to Pat Sajak, the current host of the show. The episode continued as though nothing had even happened, which many fans said was the funniest part of the prank.
Jared Leto seemingly enjoyed his role as host and even shared a clip from the episode to his Instagram story, asking “How’d I do?”
Jared Leto and Wheel of Fortune’s April Fools’ Prank
This isn’t the first time Jared was on Wheel of Fortune. Jared Leto first appeared on Wheel of Fortune back in November when he and his brother Shannon announced their band’s 2024 world tour as “contestants” on the show.
However, he seemed to enjoy his humorous return as host — which was all part of an elaborate April Fools’ joke. Fans seemed to get a kick out of the prank!
One person commented on the Wheel of Fortune’s Instagram video, stating, “The funniest thing about it is how it was never acknowledged for the rest of the show.”
Another user said, “It was this exact moment where I felt how much I’m going to miss Pat.”
Pat Sajak, the current host of Wheel of Fortune, is retiring this year — after over four decades of hosting. Ryan Seacrest, the renowned television and radio host, will be taking his place. You can say fans got a sneak peek of how the show will feel without Pat’s presence.
