According to appraisal documents obtained by PEOPLE, one of the trustees of Perry’s estate, Lisa Ferguson, indicated the late actor had $1,596,914.47 in his personal bank account at the time of his death. The media outlet noted that Perry more than likely had many assets that were not part of Ferguson’s filing.
Per the late Friends star’s will, the majority of his belongings were placed in a trust. The will also revealed that he wanted to leave his items in the “Alvy Singer Living Trust,” which was named after Woody Allen’s character in Annie Hall.
Matthew Perry’s assets in the trust have yet to be disclosed. His father, John Perry, and his mother, Suzanne Morrison, were both listed as trust beneficiaries. His half-sister Caitlin Morrison and his ex Rachel Dunn were also listed as beneficiaries.
Matthew Perry further indicated in his will that if he had any children, they would not be entitled to his estate. The late actor died without any children. He was also never married.
Perry died on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. He was discovered in the jacuzzi of his Los Angeles home. The Los Angeles Fire Department revealed at the time that they were called to the scene at 4:07 p.m. local time for a “medical emergency.”
Less than two months later, Matthew Perry’s cause of death was announced as acute effects of ketamine and was ruled accidental. Perry, who had struggled with addiction over the years, had reportedly been clean for 19 months before he died. He was on ketamine infusion therapy, with his last treatment just being “one and a half weeks” before his death.
Law Enforcement Officials Believe ‘Multiple People’ Should Be Charged For Matthew Perry’s Death
Last week, law enforcement sources revealed to PEOPLE that they believe multiple people should be charged for the death of Matthew Perry.
The source also noted that the U.S. Attorney’s Office will make the ultimate decision on whether or not to press charges. Authorities have been investigating the death of Perry since earlier this year.
The Los Angeles Police Department is working with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. postal inspectors. This is in an attempt to find where the ketamine that killed Matthew Perry came from. Perry’s autopsy report determined the level found in his blood was equivalent to the amount used during general anesthesia.
“This, primarily, is what is used to charge drug dealers, but it can be used to charge pill mills and doctors as well,” former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani shared. “Doctors that are overprescribing and not seeing patients absolutely would be charged under this section.”
Rahmani also explained there are different possible sentences for offenders depending on a number of factors. “If you distribute drugs and someone dies, there’s different mandatory minimums,” he noted. “There’s even mandatory life, depending on the number of factors.”
Former CIA and FBI special agent Tracy Walder adds that the suspects could also be charged with mail fraud.
