As reported by ABC7, the gruesome discovery came about at around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, September 8. Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a North Mansfield Avenue lot after receiving reports of a foul odor coming from an impounded vehicle.
Upon inspection, authorities found decomposing human remains in the Tesla’s front trunk. The body was found inside a bag, and the vehicle had been impounded days before the grotesque finding. It was reportedly abandoned in the Hollywood Hills.
As reported by the outlet, the vehicle is registered in Hempstead, Texas, to singer d4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.
The New York Post reported that authorities have confirmed the body belongs to a woman. Additionally, the victim is described as having black wavy hair and is 5 feet 2 inches tall, has a “Shhhh” tattoo on her right index finger, and was found wearing a tube top, yellow bracelet, stud earrings, and black leggings.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition in which the victim was found, it might take a while before an identity is officially confirmed.
Circumstances surrounding the victim’s death have yet to be shared by the authorities. However, sources told NBC4 that there are “sinister signs,” such as the body being found in a bag. Therefore, as per the New York Post, the case is being treated as a homicide investigation.
Singer Fully Cooperating With Authorities
Regarding d4vd, his representative told NBC4 that the singer is cooperating with the authorities. Meanwhile, he is currently on tour and is scheduled to perform at The Truman in Kansas City, Missouri.
“D4vd has been informed about what’s happened,” the representative said. “And, although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities.”
Singer d4vd is best known for his songs “Here with Me” and “Romantic Homicide.” He has billions of streams on Spotify. He has not addressed the incident as of September 10.
