It seems Caitlin Clark has given Antonio Brown the digital cold shoulder, blocking the former NFL star on social media. Brown labeled the ex-Iowa Hawkeyes stand out as the “Cracker of the Day” following his boast to his X followers that she had blocked him on the social media platform.
Unsurprisingly, most denizens of X weren’t feeling it. Many also supported Clark’s blocking of the former pro football player. “You deserved it for being weird bro,” one X user wrote. “You’re punching up bro- she’s a bigger star than you and the envy coming out of your pores is palpable. I LOVE how salty that makes you,” another X user rightfully pointed out.
Racial slur aside, let’s address the Cousin Itt comparison. I’m pretty certain Antonio Brown has never watched any of the Addams Family TV shows or films. Cousin Itt is famously hairy, but also short, with little-person actor Felix Silla (who stood 3’11) originating the role on the 60s original sitcom. Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark stands at 6 feet. Her hair is also pretty on point and not particularly long. Epic fail in the insult department, AB.
Former NFL Star Antonio Brown Tried to Shade Current NCAA and Future WNBA Star Caitlin Clark in the Past
Last month, Antonio Brown, in a desperate attempt to stay relevant, also attempted and failed to shade Caitlin Clark with a clumsy pop culture reference. Clark had just surpassed Pete Maravich to become the NCAA Division 1 college basketball’s top scorer, following a stellar 35-point game that led No. 6 Iowa to a 93-83 win against No. 2 Ohio State.
While she rightfully received praise from college hoops fans, Brown publicly embarrassed himself on social media over the milestone moment. “Congrats to Caitlin Clark on becoming all-time leading scorer,” he wrote on X at the time. However, his seeming praise was accompanied by a GIF of a flowing-haired Mel Gibson.
Once again, AB seems to have no idea what pop culture reference he’s trying to make. He hashtagged the post #PassionoftheChrist, which Gibson directed but didn’t star in. The image of the long-locked Mel is from his 1995 film, Braveheart. It seems AB’s biggest diss on Clark is she has long hair. Devastating, AB. Your insult science is too tight.
Who knows, maybe AB is rebranding himself as a troll that messes up references in his “jokes”. Regardless, it’s doubtful that Caitlin Clark is losing any sleep over clumsy insults from a retired NFL player she’d likely never heard of.
