Britney Spears is allegedly struggling with budgeting her $60 million estate these days.
Sources close to the pop star told Page Six nearly three years after her infamous 13-year conservatorship came to an end, she is spending her millions left and right.
“She has no concept of money,” one of the insiders stated. “For over a decade, other people were in charge of her bank accounts, and every purchase had to be reported to the court – even if it was just a pack of gum. But now, she’s on her own.”
A fellow source also told the media outlet that Britney Spears’ inner circle is “in a precarious position” as they try to not “rock the boat” and make her feel like she’s under a conservatorship again by raising concerns about her spending habits.
“It’s tricky,” the insider admitted. “No one wants to be Jamie 2.0.”
They were referencing Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, who was in charge of his daughter’s conservatorship for more than a decade.
The drastic spending issue comes just months after Spears announced she will never return to the music industry.
However, she still has some money coming in. Along with the collaboration with Elton John for Hold Me Closer in 2022 and the release of her explosive 2023 memoir The Woman In Me, Spears is “at the point of recoupment” with her $15 million publishing deal. She is also earning “very significant” royalties from her book.
“She’s not broke,” one of the sources pointed out. “But she definitely could benefit from being more careful with her cash.”
“Between flying private and booking five-star villas, it can get costly – fast,” the other source added.
Britney Spears Settles Legal Dispute With Her Father Over Conservatorship
Meanwhile, Britney Spears’ attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that she and her father, Jamie Spears, have settled their legal dispute over the conservatorship.
“Although the conservatorship was terminated in November 2021, [Britney’s] wish for freedom is now truly complete,” Rosengart shared in a statement. “As she desired and instructed, her freedom now includes that she will no longer need to be involved with court or entangled with legal proceedings in this matter.”
“Britney Spears won when the court suspended her father,” Rosengart continued. “And Britney Spears won when her fundamental rights and civil liberties were restored.”
Jamie Spears’ attorney, Alex Weingarten, also released a statement to PEOPLE about the legal situation. He revealed the father-daughter duo had reached a settlement agreement.
“I cannot comment on any specifics, as the settlement is confidential,” Weingarten stated. “Jamie is thrilled that this is all behind him. He loves his daughter very much, and everything he has ever done has been to protect and support her.”
Weingarten then pointed out that it is unfortunate that some “irresponsible” people in Britney’s life chose to drag the legal issues on for as long as they did.
Britney and Jamie avoided going to trial over alleged financial misconduct during the conservatorship.
