Former adult film star Emily Willis is reportedly on the mend following a health scare that left her in a vegetative coma earlier this year.
According to a recent TMZ report, Willis, despite being in a vegetative state as of late last month, can track objects with her eyes. The 25-year-old actress has also reportedly been able to smile and express emotions during interactions.
However, her father is quoted in the latest report saying that sadly, doctors do not anticipate further improvements. Willis’ family hopes to transfer her to a facility close to them, ensuring she continues receiving care in proximity to her loved ones.
Regarding the origins of Willis’ condition, TMZ highlights the enigmatic nature of her cardiac arrest. Initial thoughts pointed to an accidental overdose, but early toxicology reports found no drugs, making the cause a mystery.
Emily Willis’ Brother Dispels Rumors of a Drug Overdose Causing Her Current Condition
Indeed, Willis’ family addressed the “misinformation” surrounding her hospitalization. On a GoFundMe page in early March, Willis’ brother clarified that, according to the doctors and their family, the allegations of an overdose are unfounded.
In the same update, Willis’ family disclosed that she was in a vegetative coma, “fighting for her life,” with the funds raised earmarked for medical costs. Though the initial fundraising goal was $60,000, contributions have now surpassed $70,000.
“Emily was receiving the treatment and help she needed at the time of the incident to overcome her struggles,” Willis’ brother wrote at the time.
“She retired from the adult industry nearly two years ago and had aspirations of success in other fields of entertainment. Those who worked with her in her new career path knew she had the potential to achieve her dreams.”
“The road to recovery is difficult and uncertain ahead of us,” he added. “But we are doing everything we can to make sure Emily gets the care and love she needs.”
Emily Willis Enjoyed Mainstream Acting Success Just Before Her Health Crisis
Emily Willis was enjoying mainstream acting success before her health crisis. She appeared in the Steven Soderbergh-produced film Divinity in 2023.
The thriller boasted a cast that included Stephen Dorff and Scott Bakula. She also starred in the video for Slipknot’s Grammy-nominated single “Hive Mind” that same year.
Before leaving the adult film industry, Willis won several AVN Awards, including Female Performer of the Year and Best All-Girl Movie or Anthology in 2021.
