According to a criminal complaint obtained by Fox 6 and Law & Crime, the incident occurred on August 27. At around 2:15 p.m., first responders arrived at a South Milwaukee home where Totsky lived alongside her husband and their two grandchildren, including the 15-year-old, only identified by the initials “E.B.”
Upon arrival, South Milwaukee Fire Department personnel found Totsky unconscious, and she was transported to a local hospital. There, unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries days after the incident.
As per the complaint, it was E.B. who called 911. He allegedly told the police that his grandmother had fallen after having a seizure. However, an autopsy conducted by the medical examiner found hemorrhages and “observed evidence of strangulation.”
Past Incident, Alleged Confession
Totsky’s grieving husband, E.B.’s step-grandfather, was interviewed by police. He allegedly revealed that the 15-year-old had previously choked Totsky after sneaking behind her.
The man had arrived home two months before Totsky’s death and found his wife “shaken up.” When asked about it, Totsky revealed what had ocurred: E.B. had allegedly choked her. The woman became unconscious and, when she woke up, she found E.B. standing over her, court documents alleged.
E.B. was interviewed again after being arrested. There, he allegedly changed his story, saying that he had smelled something burning in the kitchen and later found his grandmother on the floor.
However, when presented with the autopsy findings, E.B.confessed, police said.
By using his right arm and elbow, E.B. allegedly strangled his grandmother for about 5 minutes. While on the chokehold, Elizabeth Totsky fought for her life, striking E.B. once in the head, the complaint said.
However, E.B. continued strangling his grandmother until her body went limp, the court documents alleged.
The 15-year-old is charged with first-degree intentional homicide. He is being held on a $100,000 bond. E.B. is charged as an adult, as per Fox 6. Should he be convicted, he faces a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
