According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, the 1000-Lb. Sisters star pleaded guilty to “simple possession” in a plea deal submitted to the Crockett County courthouse on Dec. 19.
In the plea deal, Slaton received a suspended sentence of 11 months and 29 days to time served. She won’t have any jail time, but will pay a $500 fine and attend an alcohol and drug assessment.
She is to have no contact with the Tennessee zoo as well.
Crockett County Sheriff’s Department previously revealed that deputies were called to the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo on Sept. 2 after a guest was allegedly bitten by one of the park’s camels. Upon arrival, responding deputies discovered a suspicious odor from the injured guest’s vehicle.
The zoo guest, identified as Slaton, was then arrested on illegal possession of Schedule 1, illegal possession of Schedule VI, and two counts of child endangerment.
Brian Scott Lovvorn, an adult passenger in the vehicle, was also arrested and faced the exact charges.
Slaton’s two children, sons Gage, 4, and Glenn, 2, whom she shares with ex-husband Michael Halterman, were also in the vehicle during the zoo arrest.
Lovvorn and Slaton were both booked into the Crockett County Jail. The two initially pleaded not guilty to the drug possession and child endangerment charges, but, in order to get a reduced sentence, Slaton changed her plea.
One Day After Her Zoo Arrest, Amy Slaton Shared Photos of Her Alleged Camel Bite
Following her zoo arrest, Slaton shared photos of her alleged camel bite with TMZ.
However, the reports about the alleged camel bite were mixed. While the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department claimed a zoo employee had called 911 to report the bite, the zoo owner, Jon Conley, maintained the opposite.
Conley claimed that Slaton’s wound was inconsistent with an animal bite.
He further explained there was no bruised tissue. He also pointed out that the skin was “fileted open,” which he stated did not indicate an animal bite.
Therefore, he did not believe that any of his camels had harmed the reality TV star.
Meanwhile, despite the child endangerment charges, Slaton shared a life update on Instagram just over a month after her zoo arrest. The update included pictures of both Gage and Glenn.
She captioned the post “2024.”
