According to Metro, the Scottish wrestler’s mother, Bridgeen, and father, Ronnie, were hit by a vehicle on May 17 while visiting her in Orlando. Although her father survived, her mother succumbed to her injuries shortly after the accident. She was 51 years old.
The driver of the vehicle reportedly cooperated with authorities on the scene and it appears no charges were pressed.
Alba Frye, whose real name is Kayleigh Rae, released a statement about the situation, noting there were no words to describe how devastated her family was. “Words cannot describe how devastated we all are,” she stated. “[My mum] was the most caring, fun-loving person, the life of every party, and the biggest wee legend we all knew. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.”
Days after her mother’s death, the WWE wrestler paid tribute on Instagram. “The world won’t be the same without you,” Alba wrote with a heart emoji. “Love you, mum.”
The post features a picture of the wrestler with her mother.
The media outlet reported that the tragic death came weeks before Alba was set to wrestle at WWE’s Clash At The Castle Event, which is in Scotland this upcoming weekend.
The WWE Superstar’s Father Described Her Mother As Being His ‘Soul-Mate’
In a separate message, the WWE superstar’s father stated that Bridgeen was his “soul mate.”
“I can’t come to terms with what has happened to us,” the wrestler’s father explained. “I am struggling but we are strong people together and my aim in life now is to carry on being strong for the rest of our family the way Bridgeen would have. My world has been ripped apart.”
Friends of the WWE wrestler also expressed sympathy for her and her family.
“She was one in a million, everyone who knew her will be heartbroken,” one person stated. “A legend that will be forever in my heart, rest now ma wee pal.”
Another person added, “I can’t believe she is gone. You are right, she was life and soul of the party and very funny. Some of her quips cracked me up, RIP Bridgeen you will be sorely missed.”
A friend of the family has launched a GoFundMe to raise funds to bring Alba’s mother back to Scotland as well as other funeral arrangements. “Although no amount of money could take away their pain. A lot of the community have been asking how they can donate and give back as Bridgeen gave to so many, therefor the family has agreed they can do so via page.”
The campaign has so far raised over £3,000.
