According to law enforcement sources cited by TMZ, deputies from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the actor’s residence in the Los Angeles area twice last Wednesday. The initial call was made to report a suspicious individual loitering near Will’s gate, requesting to see someone not residing there.
According to the outlet, security instructed the man to vacate the premises, and he vanished before deputies could respond. However, he reappeared shortly after, managing to gain entry to the property once again.
According to sources from TMZ, Will Smith‘s security intercepted and detained an individual before he could approach the residence. Subsequently, police were called to the scene and reportedly arrested 37-year-old Robert Ogden on a misdemeanor charge.
The authorities were compelled to hold the man in custody pending a bail hearing before a judge, due to concerns he might once again return to the house.
At the time of the alleged incident, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air legend was not present.
This is the Second Home Break In this Year Related to Will Smith
Meanwhile, this is the second time this year that the Pinkett-Smith family has encountered unwanted guests. Back in February, authorities reported two individuals scaled the balcony of Jada Pinkett’s residence while she was at home.
Their master plan fell flat when the talk show host and actress scared them off. Upon sighting the intruders, she immediately alerted the authorities, leading to a swift response from law enforcement. Nonetheless, the culprits managed to evade capture, having fled before the arrival of the police.
The reason for the attempted robbery is still unclear, with investigators unsure if Jada was specifically targeted or if this is part of a wider trend of targeting rich homes in Los Angeles. According to TMZ, after the attempted burglary, deputies recorded the incident and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, Will Smith is having a great 2024 otherwise. Last month, he suited up in his Men in Black look for a throwback performance at Coachella. Smith made a spectacular entrance during J Balvin’s UFO-themed performance, appearing dramatically from below the stage. Together, they delivered a rendition of the 1997 hit “Men in Black.”
Smith has another throwback set to drop in 2024. Bad Boys Ride or Die, the 4th installment in his action comedy series alongside Martin Lawrence debits in June.
