Seemingly revealing why he wasn’t with Zendaya at the 2024 Met Gala on Monday, Tom Holland posted a picture of a bad head injury he sustained after getting hit by a golf ball.

The Spider-Man: Homecoming star took to his Instagram Stories to share the image. “Who ever said golf isn’t a contact sport is full of s—,” he captioned the pic. “You can see the dimples.”
Tom Holland also tagged his father Dominic Holland’s Patreon, where he shared more details about his son’s accident.
Dominic Holland, Tom’s Father, Reveals How the Golfing Accident Happened
Dominic revealed Tom was hit while playing golf with his family in Scotland. He noted while the golf ball did hit the actor’s head, it was not considered a serious injury.
“In fact, it was hit by a sand wedge from 80 yards albeit by a scratch golfer who should have known better and frankly been more accurate,” Dominic wrote. “The offending player was Alex Roberts, a close friend of Tom’s … without knowing that his most important and highly valuable friend was off the green to his left.”
Dominic wrote the ball made a “whack” sound when it struck Tom on the right of his forehead. “Had it been just a few cm’s to his left or right … It was a great shock and it certainly hurt, hence why Tom hit the turf as though he’d been shot.”
Dominic said Tom’s “woolly hat” offered some protection against the golf ball. “[Tom was] lucky then to be playing in Scotland (the home of golf) in April when woolly hats are mandatory for survival,” Dominic joked. He then said Tom was “dispatched to the hospital for some checks.”
“Something else about the accuracy of this blog … Firstly, Alex, (Tom’s friend) … is no longer in Tom’s inner cohort. Relegated to the outer circle. Shall we say, not inside the ropes.”
Tom Holland Supports Zendaya While She Attends 2024 Met Gala
Although he wasn’t there in person for Zendaya’s big moment at last night’s Met Gala, Tom Holland showed his support digitally.
In a post on Instagram, Holland shared a picture of his girlfriend wearing her royal blue and black dress with golden material trim. He captioned the post with three love emojis.
According to The New York Times, the gown was designed in spring/summer 1996 by Givenchy by Galliano. It was sourced from the Beverly Hills vintage clothing store Lily et Cie. It was No. 8 of Galliano’s first collection for Givenchy.
Rita Watnick, the founder of Lily et Cie, told the media outlet, “[The dress] says, ‘I am not an emissary for a brand. I am my own emissary.”
Zendaya also teamed up with longtime stylist Law Roach to design the ensemble’s headpiece.
