Over the weekend, Gaga posted a TikTok that shut down pregnancy rumors, which have been swirling for some time now.
“not pregnant– just down bad cryin at the gym,” Gaga wrote over her video, quoting Swift’s new song “Down Bad.” She also encouraged her followers to register to vote, providing a link for them to do so.
In the TikTok clip, Gaga is seen showing off her winged eyeliner with an audio playing in the background.
“I don’t have to find an aesthetic; I am an aesthetic,” the audio says. “I mean, I’m sure there’s somebody out here right now who’s going into Pinterest, trying to type up all these adjectives to describe me.”
The pregnancy rumors initially started when Gaga attended her sister Natali Germanotta’s wedding on June 3. After seeing comments inquiring about a potential pregnancy, Gaga posted to her Instagram Story to clear up the confusion.
Gaga’s makeup artist, Sarah Tanno, then came to her defense on X.
“Honestly, it’s really sad that she had to address this because people were commenting about her body,” she wrote. “People should not be allowed to comment on other people’s body. Fans have been saying for years that she was pregnant, just because how she looks in certain outfits.”
“Why spread a rumor about somebody that you care about or love?” she continued. “It does affect people’s mental health. People should not be body shaming people or assuming they are pregnant when they aren’t!
“Even if she was pregnant, it’s none of your business to know at all. Why are people obsessed with her being pregnant or not?? I don’t get it.”
Taylor Swift Defends Lady Gaga Amid Pregnancy Speculation
“Can we all agree that it’s invasive & irresponsible to comment on a woman’s body,” Swift commented on Gaga’s video. “Gaga doesn’t owe anyone an explanation & neither does any woman.”
In addition to Swift, countless others shared their thoughts.
“I’ve had someone ask when I was due when I wasn’t preggers,” one person commented. “Unless you know 100% that person is with child, do not ask if they are pregnant.”
Many people were also shocked that Swift shared her thoughts via TikTok, as the popstar is previously known for communicating her opinions strictly via song lyrics.
“THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IVE SEEN TAYLOR COMMENT ON A VID,” someone said.
“how do people not know that gaga and taylor are friends & have been since 2009???” another asked.
