Nearly eight years after he and Christina Hall called it quits, Tarek El Moussa reflects on how he handled the split with his ex-wife.
During his appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the former Flip or Flop star admitted he wasn’t the best guy to Hall while they were married.
“When you’re going through multiple cancers back-to-back and your hormones are off and you’re in surgeries and you have no thyroid, you do things you normally wouldn’t do,” he explained.
Tarek El Moussa quickly pointed out that he wasn’t using any of those instances as an excuse for his behavior towards Hall. He then noted that it was a tough situation all around.
“But you know, what really broke me was my divorce,” El Moussa continued. “That was exponentially more difficult than every issue in my entire life put together. And somehow, I got through it.”
Tarek El Moussa and Christina Hall got married in 2009. The couple’s relationship had its ups and downs. This includes their early struggles during the market crash in 2009 as well as their fertility and cancer struggles.
The former spouses share two children, Taylor and Brayden.
After his divorce from Christina was finalized, Tarek met his now-wife, Heather Rae. The couple got married in 2021 and now share a one-year-old son, Tristan.

Tarek El Moussa previously opened up about his split from Hall in his memoir Flip Your Life: How to Find Opportunities in Distress – in Real Estate, Business, and Life. He recalled him fleeing to a nature area with a .38-caliber pistol following a huge fight with Christina.
After El Moussa took off with the gun, Hall immediately called the police for help. Rather than allegedly fleeing, the Flip or Flop star said he was “craving exercise” following the fight.
Tarek El Moussa decided to hop the fence of the couple’s former Yorba Linda home and take off. He brought the gun to protect himself if he were to run into a nearby mountain lion.
But as he continued to walk the area, El Moussa said he noticed a helicopter overhead. “A police officer leaning out of the helicopter pointed a rifle at me,” he recalled. “Dust swirled around me from the spin of the blades, and a loudspeaker crackled, ‘Get your hands in the air!’”
Tarek El Moussa said after he returned to the home he shared with Christina Hall that he was forced to sit handcuffed for several hours.
“That was the very last time we were together as a family,” El Moussa wrote. “With Christina walking down the driveway, crying, and me sitting there in handcuffs, asking myself, ‘What in the world is going on?‘”
The former couple announced their separation a few months later.
Tarek El Moussa then stated he didn’t hold anything against his ex for her actions that day. “I understand why she did what she did. We had a lot of hard years through my sicknesses and my mental health struggles from the testosterone. I’ve never said any of this, ever.”
