According to the New York Post, 30-year-old Mica Miller suffered a fatal gunshot to the head. She was discovered at Lumber River State Park in Lumberton, North Carolina on April 27.
Mica’s family and friends became suspicious of her husband John-Paul Miller, who is the pastor of Solid Rock Church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, when he announced her death during a recent service. He had previously asked the congregation not to discuss her passing inside the church.
“I got a call late last night, my wife passed away,” he told the congregation. It was self-induced and it was up in North Carolina. Y’all pray for me and my kids and everybody. You all know she wasn’t well mentally and she needed medicine that was hard to get to her. I’m sure there will be more details to come, but keep her family in your prayers.”
Following the South Carolina pastor’s declaration, Mica’s family admitted to be taken back by her sudden passing and urged authorities to investigate the situation “deeply.”
“This has to be at least looked into deeply,” Kenn Young, who was close to Mica, said. “Because yeah, a tragic life was lost, and it’s not just as simple as mental health issues.”
Major Damien McLean of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office also said the department was investigating Mica’s death. “Officers are in the process of gathering information from people in South and North Carolina as part of their investigation into how Miller died.”
McLean also reassured that there was no indication that the community near Lumber River State Park was in any danger.
South Carolina Pastor John-Paul Miller Said His Recently Deceased Wife Mica Had ‘Struggled With Suicide’ Before
During a recent interview with WPDE, South Carolina pastor John-Paul Miller stated that his recently deceased wife Mica had struggled with suicide before her sudden passing.
“Each time we would help her through it and take her to the doctor,” he explained. “And we got through it and everything was fine. She even gave a few testimonies here at church that we have on video. She battled Suicide but God took care of her and got her through it.”
The South Carolina pastor further claimed that he and Mica “spent every night together for hours just talking and talking and talking.”
Mica previously filed support from John-Paul in Oct. 2023. However, the case was dismissed in Feb. 2024. However, John-Paul filed for “separate support and maintenance a few days later. Mica also filed for “separate and maintenance, with a hearing scheduled for June 5. They were still legally married when Mica died.
Mica and John-Paul were married in 2017. John-Paul was previously married and has five children with his first wife.
While using the hashtag #JUSTICEFORMICA, Mica’s family has revealed there was a “no contact order and divorce was filed” days before Mica’s alleged suicide.
Mica’s sister, Sierra, asked the public not to listen to false stories being shared. “Mica was a God-fearing, joyful, loving woman who did not deserve the abuse she endured.”
Sierra added anyone with information should contact her family. “If you hear anything about this from anyone other than her family please question it, reach out to her siblings or parents. Keep our family in your prayers and if you have any information that needs to be shared, please contact one of us. Please respect us in this time and honor her memory with joy that she is no longer suffering.”
