Shania Twain fans are floored by the singer’s new look. The classic brunette has gone gold blonde with a new image. Twain showcased the new look after appearing as a mentor on American Idol.
She captioned the post that showcased her blonde locks, “Let’s go Idols!! I’m guest mentoring some fantastic singers, songwriters and musicians on tonight’s @americanidol.”
But fans were more obsessed with her looks.
“Unrecognizable!!” one Instagram user exclaimed. Another wrote, “I didn’t recognize you with blond hair.”
Another person asked for Twain to come back to her original hair style. They wrote, “Please, come back the brunette style! That fake blonde type is not natural at all for the most beautiful singer in the world.”
Another agreed, writing,”Do not like the blonde look; it doesn’t suit you, and you are too thin.”
It seems a lot of people missed her brown hair. One person wrote, “I miss your brown hair; I always loved it! Natural Beauty wins!” Another commented, “My wonderful idol, but I agree with some comments. You should go back to your origins, be more of yourself by simply singing and being happy without mentoring, etc.”
Why Shania Twain Changed Her Hair
Of course, it wasn’t all just negativity. Several fans did call the new hairstyle beautiful and gorgeous as well. It’s not the first time that Twain has gone blonde. She previously showcased blonde hair for the Haunting Live.
Twain admitted that she’s swapping up her hair to see what works. The singer discovered gray hair, sparking the change.
She said, “It’s funny—the reason that I even experimented with the pink was that I’m going gray. And now I’m thinking that when I’m entirely gray, maybe I should just dye my hair at that point and rock the pink.”
Twain has come a long ways from that 8-year-old performing at bars to support her siblings. “It was like, ‘This is all I know how to do. I’ve got to support the kids.’ That gave me a motivation and a fearless state of mind, because when you don’t have a choice, you’ve got to push through — and that’s what I did,” she told People. The singer has arguably hit icon status.
Twain shows no sign of slowing down.
“It’s like a renaissance period for me. To be experiencing it as a relevant artist still, that’s rewarding,” Twain said a few years ago. “I feel a renewed confidence. I don’t have anything to prove anymore, and I feel freedom in that.”
She plans to perform for as long as she can. “I may not be able to [sing] forever,” she said, “but right now I’m just enjoying where I am.”
