On Sunday, October 22, Spears posted a telling photo on her Instagram—a snap of a heart-shaped cake with the words, “See you in hell,” iced across the middle.
The “Toxic” singer captioned the photo taken by photographer Marta Blue, “??.” Spears, a fan of Blue’s work, posted another snap taken by the photographer later on Sunday—this one a hand catching water under a faucet in a pink bathtub.
The image, different from Spears’ usual dancing videos and memes, quickly caught her follower’s attention.
On Twitter, one of Spears’ fans commented on her post, saying, “this b**** is really about to light the match and watch them all BURN we love to see it ?”
“As she should,” another fan replied, theorizing that Spears’ post was directed at Justin Timberlake. “I’m looking forward to seeing how JT’s publicists try to put out the dumpster fire that’s coming his way!”
Before the singer’s cryptic posts, news broke that she wrote about her abortion with Justin Timberlake in her new memoir, The Woman In Me. According to Spears, she didn’t agree with abortion but chose to follow through with the procedure to protect Timberlake’s career. At the time, both singers were 19-years-old.
Spears Discusses Her Not-So-Wild Party Days In The Woman In Me
In Spears’ new memoir, she cleared the air around her party days—they weren’t as crazy as they seemed.
In Spears’ memoir, she writes, “It was never as wild as the press made it out to be.”
The songstress also wrote that she “never had a drinking problem,” and was never enticed by hard drugs. According to Spears, her “drug of choice” was the ADHD medication Adderall.
The pop star explains that the drug “made me high, yes, but what I found far more appealing was that it gave me a few hours of feeling less depressed.”
The Woman In Me is available now.
