As King Charles III continues his cancer treatment, Prince William is allegedly “quietly preparing” to take over the UK royal family throne. Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith recently told RadarOnline that the Prince of Wales and the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, are taking on more duties as King Charles III goes through his medical treatments.

“As a result, William has been taking on more responsibilities, and he and Kate have been preparing for their future roles sooner than they would have expected,” Bedell Smith said.
King Charles III announced he had been diagnosed with cancer in February 2024. He received the diagnosis after a “routine hospital procedure” for benign prostate enlargement.
A royal source further shared with RadarOnline that Prince William and Kate Middleton are experiencing the “calm before the storm.”
“They are next in line for the biggest job of their lives,” the insider shared. “And of course, Kate’s health has taken priority, but it’s also allowed everyone to take a step back and figure out what’s important right now.”
King Charles III continues to do “as much as possible despite his treatments.” Royal commentator Duncan Larcombe spoke out about the royal’s efforts.
“He has kept going, and you get the impression he’s been doing as much as he physically can,” Larcombre explained. “I wonder if his doctors might privately be a bit annoyed that he hasn’t rested as much as he could have.”
Prince William Takes On More Responsibility As Kate Middleton Resumes Her Duties After Announcing She’s in Remission
Meanwhile, Kate Middleton recently resumed her royal duties after announcing she was in remission for an undisclosed cancer. Nearly a month after King Charles III announced his cancer diagnosis, Middleton revealed she also was battling the disease.
“It is a relief to now be in remission, and I remain focussed on recovery,” Middleton announced last month. “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am, however, looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
She then thanked those who have “quietly walked alongside” her, Prince William, and their three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis.
“We couldn’t have asked for more,” the Princess of Wales added. “The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”
