Over the weekend, the Daily Mail leaked a series of emails that alleged Prince Andrew sent Giuffre’s date of birth and Social Securtity number to his bodyguard. He also suggested that she may have a criminal record in the U.S.
The emails were allegedly sent before the release of the 2011 photo showing Prince Andrew with underaged Giuffre. There’s no information that shows the royal’s bodyguard went through with looking into Giuffre’s information.
Giuffre died by suicide earlier this year. She stated for years that Prince Andrew had abused her while she was on Jeffrey Epstein’s infamous island. She was 17 years old at the time.
Her family stated she did not have a criminal record.
“We are aware of media reporting and are actively looking intot he claims made,” a spokesperson with the Metropolitian Police told the Guardian about the investigation into Prince Andrew.
During his appearance on BBC One’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg, Energy Secretary Ed Miliband stated the allegations surrounding Prince Andrew are “deeply concerning” and should to be investigated.
“It’s absolutely not the way that close protection officers should be used,” Miliband stated.
Prince Andrew Recently Announced He Has Relinquished His Royal Titles and Honors
The investigation into the emails comes just days after Prince Andrew announced he was relinquishing his royal titles and honors.
“In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family,” the royal shared in a statement. “I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.”
Prince Andrew further shared, “With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”
Although he is no longer the Duke of York, Prince Andrew is a “prince” as the son of Queen Elizabeth. His Royal Highness title has been inactive since 2019 after he stepped away from royal duties.
