Authorities discovered Petrucciani at her residence on March 25, according to multiple reports. Officials have not publicly detailed who found her. But early accounts indicate she may have been dead for several days before emergency services entered the property.
Investigators have opened an inquiry to determine the exact cause of death. As of now, authorities have not confirmed a definitive cause, and forensic examinations are expected to provide further clarity.
Authorities Do Not Suspect Murder
Initial findings suggest there is no clear evidence of foul play. Prosecutors have indicated that an accidental fall could be one possible explanation. Though officials continue to examine all scenarios before reaching conclusions.
Petrucciani rose to fame in 2001 after winning Loft Story, widely regarded as France’s first major reality television program. Her appearance on the show turned her into a national figure almost overnight and helped define a new era of celebrity driven by reality TV.
In the years that followed, she remained a recognizable presence in French media. Her life in the spotlight was often marked by personal struggles and periods away from public view, however.
Per Le Monde, Petrucciani suffered numerous hospitalizations and abuse from 2020. She accused her ex-boyfriend of beating her, sharing images of her bruised body on social media. She also endured a psychiatric episode in Paris that got her admitted to a psychiatric clinic.
In 2024, while on a chat show, Touche pas à mon poste!, she recounted a violent and brutal incident where she was raped. Benjamin Castaldi, producer of Loft Story, said everyone was “a little bit responsible.”
“we all watched. Because we all commented. Because we all, at some point, looked away when it became too much.”
Her death has sparked widespread reaction across France, with fans and media figures reflecting on both her cultural impact and the pressures associated with sudden fame.
Officials say the investigation remains ongoing, and further details, including the confirmed cause of death, will be released once authorities complete medical and forensic examinations.
