A Paris venue is speaking up after images surfaced of a baby lying on the crowded floor during a sold-out Taylor Swift concert.
Photos that have since gone viral depict a startling scene from Friday night’s event at La Défense Arena: an infant resting on the floor in the standing-room-only section. The baby, placed on a jacket, was watched over by an adult, likely the child’s parent or guardian.
A small purple LED light attached to the tot’s wrist shines to warn random Swifites not to step on them.
Of course, multiple images of the vulnerable infant made their way to X (formerly Twitter).
The photo sparked immediate concern for the child’s welfare and outrage towards the unidentified caregivers.
“I have a baby and I couldn’t imagine bringing him to the PIT let alone setting him ON THE FLOOR???!! Like hold him???”, an X user wrote.
A second Taylor Swift fan pointed out that the concertgoers could have easily afforded a babysitter. “They bought a whole bag of merch when they could’ve skipped some to afford a sitter and just ordered online later,” the Swiftie noted.
“Nearly everything is available online. Or if those cups were overpriced alcohol, sacrifice your buzz for your kid’s safety and comfort,” they added.
Another X denizen captured a panoramic view of the venue floor. It showcased the mass of humanity gathered before the show started.
“Just to paint the full picture this is general admission at the Paris show tonight,” the concerned Swiftie posted via X. “And that baby is somewhere in the floor AT THIS SHOW! Like WTF they have lost their minds! terrible parenting.”
It Seems the Taylor Swift Fans Were Within Their Rights to Leave Their Baby on the Stadium Floor
However, it appears the seemingly negligent Taylor Swift fans were within their rights to discard their baby on the crowded floor. A spokesperson for La Défense Arena detailed their policies following the viral images raising concerns.
“General terms and conditions of sale stipulate that all minors (without any age limit) holding a ticket for a concert at Paris La Défense arena must be accompanied by an adult,” the spokesperson told Page Six.
“Under 18 children remain under their legal guardian responsibility, it’s venue policy. For spectators with a young child [on] the floor, an alternative seating arrangement has been proposed but refused by ticket holders.”
Taylor Swift concluded her Parisian performance on Sunday, May 12, setting the stage for her next destination, Sweden. She is slated to grace the Friends Arena in Stockholm with performances from May 17 through May 19.
