In the new Netflix hit series Nobody Wants This the romantic chemistry between Adam Brody and Kristin Bell is palpable. The actors on screen connection seemed so real that viewers started to wonder if they might also be having an affair off screen. Well, those rumors were quickly shut down by the show’s creator, Erin Foster, this past weekend at the Critics Choice Awards.

On Friday, the 2025 Critics Choice Awards were held at Santa Monica’s Baker Hangar. Many stars stepped out onto the red carpet to celebrate the nominees, including the creator of Nobody Wants This, Erin Foster and her sister, who helped produce the show, Sara Foster.
The Foster sisters were interviewed on the carpet by E! News reporter, Will Marfuggi, about the show’s success and the intense chemistry between their two lead actors.
“We knew that was gonna happen because we were on set watching them,” Erin told Marfuggi. “We were like, ‘Are they having an affair?’ This chemistry is insane.”
She continued, “Then the cameras turn off and they’re like brother and sister.”
Despite their believable on-screen love, Brody and Bell are happily married to their significant others. Brody has been married to actress Leighton Meester, known for her role on Gossip Girl, since 2014. Bell tied the knot with actor and podcast host Dax Shephard back in 2013.
Best Actor in a Comedy Series: Adam Brody
Sara even admitted that she didn’t expect the show to be received as well as it was. “We really didn’t know what we had,” she added.
The show’s popularity grew quickly and earned them three nominations at this year’s Critics Choice Awards; Best Comedy Series, Best Actor in a Comedy Series (Adam Brody) and Best Actress in a Comedy Series (Kristin Bell).
Brody took home the win for Best Actor in a Comedy Series, thanking Meester in a sweet acceptance speech.
“My darling, darling, darling wife Leighton,” Brody said during his speech. “Thank you for sharing this life with me and this journey with me. Thank you for our family. I love you with all my heart.”
