According to PEOPLE, which obtained the lawsuit filed against American Airlines, “Kevin Greenidge and his family were returning home via AA Flight 614 from Honduras to New York on June 4, 2022. During the flight, Kevin experienced a medical emergency and became unconscious.”
The plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Mexico. Kevin was rushed to a local hospital but unfortunately did not survive. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Now, Kevin’s mother is pointing fingers at American Airlines. She is alleging that flight personnel did not promptly respond to the medical emergency.
Additionally, she stated they were “unable to properly operate” the automated external defibrillator (AED). Either that or it was a faulty machine.

Greenidge’s family is alleging that American Airlines has either “destroyed” or “lost” evidence involving their attempt to save Kevin.
According to the Greenidge family’s complaint, “Based on conversations with American Airlines’ counsel and the airline’s refusal to permit inspection of the AED machine, it appears the AED machine has either been destroyed or put back into service and ‘lost.'”
Furthermore, Melissa Arzu, Kevin’s mom, revealed that she “never heard from American Airlines” after her son’s death. This left her feeling “hopeless.”
“I want answers from American Airlines,” she said. “I want American Airlines to take full responsibility for Kevin’s death, [and] I never want this to happen to a child or family again.”
Additionally, Melissa’s attorney Hannah Crowe alleged that “multiple eyewitnesses confirm that American Airlines flight personnel were slow to respond and not able to operate the AED machine, which appeared not to work.”
“The loss of a child is truly unimaginable, and the facts of this case are horrendous,” she said.
“Our jury is going to hear what happened to Kevin,” Hannah added. “They are going to hear the facts of this case, and they are going to be shocked that American Airlines would put its passengers, especially children, in this kind of danger.”
