Miley Cyrus recently spoke with W Magazine about her attempts to “feminize the workout space” by wearing heels to the gym.

“My mantra is, like any athlete, ‘Practice how you perform,'” the singer told the outlet. “So that’s why I practice in my heels.”
Miley is, of course, constantly performing on stage — which is arguably an incredible workout in and of itself. Showing up to the gym in heels is a great way for her to prepare for her sets.
However, the real reason she works out in heels is to feminize the otherwise bleak environment.
“The gym looks really tough, but then I’ve got my ivory Gucci slingbacks because they remind me of Marilyn ÂMonroe,” Miley continued. “I train in heels, mostly. I’m interested in feminizing the workout space, because so much of the workout equipment is ugly.”
Miley Cyrus Talks Wearing Heels to the Gym and Embracing Her Persona
According to Miley, “I definitely have a persona — an expanded, fully realized version of myself that I tap into as a performer,” she told W Magazine. “But then there’s a level of my life that’s super intimate, sacred, and secret.”
Speaking of her own persona, Miley mentioned that stars like Beyoncé and Dolly Parton have personas, too.
Miley recently collaborated with Beyoncé on the album Cowboy Carter. When discussing her relationship with Queen Bey, Miley stated that “our personas have a relationship, but then we have a relationship. And I love that.”
“I think it’s a really cute part of our relationship, because over the past couple of years I’ve really locked down on my privacy and on what I share with the public,” she continued. “She’s the same way. Part of our relationship is the safety between us.”
Miley added, “The songwriting or the work is just a small part of my relationship with [Beyoncé] — or with Dolly, or with anyone.”
