Eyewitnesses spoke to InTouch about the situation. “Mike had some kind of medical emergency on the plane and paramedics boarded,” the insider shared. “before the paramedics arrived, the flight issued an announcement asking for a doctor – the message even came on everyone’s screens.”
InTouch also reported that before takeoff, Tyson’s flight, American Airlines Flight 1815, was delayed two hours due to being overheated because of high temperates in Miami.
The eyewitness stated that Mike Tyson wore a matching short-sleeved blue and white print cabana set while on the flight.
Tyson was in the Airlines’ Admirals Club at the airport before being escorted to the flight’s gate at the original 5:10 p.m. boarding time. However, he was eventually escorted away from the area when the delay occurred. He eventually got on the plane at 6:30 p.m.
“There was a lot of buzz when he left the Admirals Club and got to the gate. A lot of fans recognized him, and a few people got pictures,” the eyewitness recalls.
“He was very accommodating and then he was escorted away from the gate because the flight was delayed because the gate person said that the plane was too hot because it had been sitting all day and had to cool down.”
Mike Tyson’s Flight Had Asked If Medical Professionals Were On Board 30 Minutes Before Los Angeles Arrival
It was further reported that passengers received a pre-recorded message asking if there were any medical personnel on the flight about 30 minutes before the plane were scheduled to land in Los Angeles. Those with medical backgrounds were asked to contact the flight attendants or press the call button.
“He was in first class, but we were an exit row,” the eyewitness revealed. “They asked us to stay on the plane and landed so paramedics could enter.”
“[The stewardess] said something like, ‘He’s a really important passenger so we wanna make sure he’s OK.’ I knew it was him, but I just mouthed the words ‘Mike Tyson’ and she nodded her head yes.”
Once the plane finally arrived at Los Angeles International Airport, it was delayed an additional 25 minutes. This was due to paramedics being on the scene to help Tyson off the plane.
In a statement to Us Weekly, Mike Tyson’s team stated he is “doing great” following the incident. However, the team didn’t reveal what the famed boxer’s medical emergency was about.
The medical emergency comes less than two months before Tyson is set to fight against Jake Paul. The highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
