Nearly six years after Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, her former Suits co-star Rick Hoffman revealed some unfortunate details about the royal wedding.
During an appearance on Barstool Sports’ Chicks in the Office podcast last week, Hoffman stated that there was a “foul smell” during the big wedding. He discussed the disgusted expression on his face that was captured by photographers.
“If you type in my name in on Google, you see [me] making that awful face,” he explained. The actor then recalled trying to keep it together because he was excited about Meghan Markle’s big day. However, the cameras were “everywhere” capturing him and his expression.
“And then as time goes on, I’m starting to smell something really terrible and foul,” Hoffman continued. He further pointed out that he is “very sensitive” to smell. He decided to cover his nose with his hands, which had coconut- and vanilla-scented moisturizer.
“I try to cut it out,” he continued. “How can I help getting away from this goofy face?”
Hoffman starred alongside Markle on the hit series Suits, which ran from 2011 to 2019. Markle left the series months before marrying Harry. She remained in touch with her former castmates and invited them to her royal wedding.
Along with Hoffman, Suits stars Sarah Rafferty, Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres, and Gabriel Macht attended the event.

A little over a month prior to Hoffman recalling the unfortunate smell at Meghan Markle’s wedding, Gina Torres revealed the Dutchess isn’t in the Suits co-stars’ group chat.
While speaking to Variety at the 2024 Golden Globes, Torres revealed details about the group chat. “Our text thread is insane right now,” Torres explained about the cast reunion at the big award event. “So it’s very exciting.”
When asked if anyone from the Suits cast contacted Meghan Markle for the reunion, Torres declared, “We don’t have her number. We just don’t.”
Macht and Adams were present for the mini-reunion. Torres told Entertainment Tonight that she mostly tries to get Macht to respond in the group text.
“Honestly, he’s slow on the text and he has like six different numbers now because he lives in England. So, we’re just trying to find out which number works.”
Torres previously said in 2019 that she was no longer in touch with Meghan Markle. “There’s no story in why,” she explained, per The Sun.
“What I will say is, if I could offer a window into what it is to be an actor and live this crazy life when you’re an actor, you meet hundreds of people during your career. The public only sees the characters that are on TV, but there are hundreds of people that make a show happen.”
