During his recent interview on Hot 97, Lawrence told the host Ebro Darden that there’s nothing wrong with him healthwise. “I’m fine,” he reassured. He then noted that he is in God’s hands and he’s blessed.
“I’m glad to be waking up every day,” the Bad Boys star continued. “No need for people to be concerned.”
Martin Lawrence went on to declare that he was “healthy as hell” and that everyone needed to stop spreading the rumors. He then turned his focus on how many fans appeared at the Bad Boys: Ride or Die premiere
“I was like, ‘Oh, this is rock concert stuff,’” he recalled. “‘What the hell is going on? For a movie?’ I was like, ‘Oh, my goodness.’”
Martin Lawrence previously suffered from highly publicized health issues. He was hospitalized in 1996 following a confrontation with police at a Los Angeles intersection. He was heard declaring “Fight the establishment” while also discovering a gun in his pocket.
Following the incident, Lawrence’s rep stated that he suffered from a seizure after failing to take his prescription medication. He was fined and placed on a two-year probation.
In 1999, Lawrence ended up in a three-day coma that was caused by severe heat exhaustion. The Los Angeles Times reported that the terrifying situation happened while he was jogging in 100 °F. He had been preparing to wear a plastic suit with heavy clothes for his Big Momma’s House role.
While he was in a coma, Lawrence’s body temperature was 107 °F. He ended up on a ventilator to help him breathe. Thankfully he was able to recover without any issues.
Will Smith Recalls ‘Emotional’ First Day With Martin Lawrence on ‘Bad Boys: Ride of Die’ Set
While at the Bad Boys: Ride of Die screening, Will Smith opened up about the “emotional” first day with Martin Lawrence on the new film’s set.
“You know, we’re producing and starring and that’s a little extra burden, right? So, you know, on the first day we’re running around and uh, Martin just stopped,” Will Smith explained to 7PM in Brooklyn podcast hots Carmelo Anthony and The Kid Mero.
“He said, ‘Hey, hey, hold on, hold on. I said, ‘Hey, what’s up?’ And he just looked, he said, ‘I love you brother.’ And I was like, ‘yeah, yeah, yeah. All love brother, all love.’ I’m ‘No, no, no, no, no, no.’ He said, ‘You know, I love you, brother.’”
Smith then said that Lawrence’s comments hit him hard. “I, emotionally, I couldn’t have it at that moment. “But I was like, you know, ‘I love you too, man.’ And he just hugged me and he said, ‘We gonna have fun making this movie.’ It’s like, we not rushing through this one. You know? And it was like, he just set the tone.”
